WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN HARD WAX AND SOFT WAX?
HARD WAX is a peel off wax applied thickly with spatula on the skin and removed with fingers. It is used for waxing sensitive and delicate areas such as eyebrows, upper lip, facial waxing, underarms, bikini line and for brazilian waxing.
SOFT WAX is applied thinly and removed with a paper strip; this is great for largest areas of skin such as the legs and arms.
HOW LONG SHOULD MY HAIR BE BEFORE WAXING?
You should have at least 4 weeks growth from your last wax and 3 weeks growth from your last shave to get the best results.
HOW MUCH EXPERIENCE DO YOU HAVE WITH BRAZILIAN/HOLLYWOOD WAXING?
I am trained and experienced in both male and female intimate waxing. I can do them with my eyes closed:)
I’M PREGNANT. CAN I STILL WAX?
Yes of course. However, you may experience move skin sensitively due to the hormonal changes.
HOME CARE AND MAINTENANCE
For most of clients, waxing does not preset any problems. However some clients may experience itchiness or ingrown hairs. In case of itchiness it happens only because the follicles are usually slightly bruised when the hair is pulled out and when the follicles are healing, there may be some itchiness which is normal.
Some clients might develop ingrown hair or even folliculitis which is an infection of a follicle. However clients rarely get folliculitis from waxing. It is more likely to get it from shaving and creams that are off or not a good quality. To help minimize negative effects there are home care products available. Ask about Ingrown Hair Soultion or Cirepil Gommage scrub - affordable and effective products helping to fight off ingrown hairs.
CAN I STILL WAX IF I TANNED THE DAY BEFORE OR IF I HAVE SUNBURN?
You should wait at least 24-48 hours between tanning and waxing. Waxing cannot be performed if you have been in a tanning booth the same day. No sun/tanning booths for 2 days following a waxing treatment. Extra precaution should be taken if using tanning accelerators. Wait 2-3 days to wax before/after tanning with accelerators.
HOW SHOULD I TAKE CARE OF MY SKIN AFTER WAXING? Keep your skin moisturized between waxing to avoid ingrown hairs. Avoid using antiperspirants if underarms have been just waxed 24 and avoid sunbathing directly after waxing treatments. For 24 h post waxing try to avoid gym/fitness classes, steam rooms, hot showers as they can irritate your skin. Showering is not a problem after waxing but be careful with the water temperature.
In case of redness and irritation you can also apply a layer of Hydrocortisone Cream 1% after your shower and again the next day if needed. It works well on bumps, redness, itchiness and any irritation and calms everything down.
Get into the habit of exfoliating the area. The top of the hair follicle sometimes gets irritated and a very thin layer of skin grows over it stopping the emerging hair from coming out, thus resulting in an ingrown hair. Exfoliating removes the dead skin cells and opens the follicle. Use a dry body brush or loofah with clear body wash and wash the area waxed in circular movements. This reduces ingrown hairs by keeping the follicles open and conditions the skin at the same time.
SHOULD I SHOWER BEFORE WAXING?
No, always avoid waxing immediately after a shower or hot bath. The warm water will open your pores but it will also soften your skin making it more likely to bruise or become irritated when waxed.
HOW LONG WILL MY BRAZILIAN WAXING LAST? Your first wax will grow a bit faster than subsequent waxes and you will possibly notice re-growth in 10 -14 days. By the third regular wax (done every 4 weeks) you will notice that your hair is finer and not as dense and you will feel less discomfort. The re-growth will be slowed and you will notice that it can take from 3 to 4 weeks to come back so you will feel basically hair free most of the time.
I HAVE VERY SENSITIVE SKIN? WILL WAXING HURT?
It depends as everyone has a different pain threshold but Lycon hot wax is very good waxing choice for sensitive areas. Most of my clients say this type of waxing is less painful than other waxing methods they tried.
Some say that between 3 and 5pm you are the least sensitive to pain. Also, if you breath deeply during waxing procedure it distracts you from the pain and will help to relax.
ARE THERE ANY CONTRAINDICATIONS I HAVE TO CONSIDER BEFORE BOOKING WAXING APPOINTMENT?
Waxing is never done on clients taking Accutane and is not recommended for clients taking Retin A, Renova, Differin or other types of skin thinning acne medications.
Sunburned, irritated or areas with open skin cannot be waxed.
Moles cannot be waxed.
If you have had a glycolic (an alpha hydroxy acid) or a salicylic acid (beta hydroxy acid) peel on the area to be waxed, you will have to wait 2 to 4 weeks before the area can be waxed.
